Windows says it “protected your PC”?

The installer isn’t signed with a paid certificate yet, so Windows doesn’t know it. Click More info, then Run anyway. Once it is in, the app keeps itself up to date: every update is signed by the people who make it, and checked before it is used.

The Mac says it can’t check Covalence, or won’t open it?

Open the .dmg and drag Covalence into Applications, then open it. If the Mac says it can’t check the app for malicious software, click Done, open System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down to “Covalence was blocked”, click Open Anyway and confirm. You do this once. (Until the app is notarised by Apple, every new installation asks.) The first call asks for the camera, the microphone and, to share your screen, Screen Recording.

How to install on Linux

.deb (Ubuntu, Debian, Mint): sudo apt install ./Covalence-…-linux-amd64.deb, or open it with your software centre. AppImage: make it runnable (right-click › Properties › Allow executing, or chmod +x Covalence-…AppImage) and open it. On Ubuntu 24.04 and later, if an AppImage won’t start, use the .deb, which sets up what the app’s sandbox needs.
